Dulux: True Joy
Dulux’s 2025 Colour of the Year, True Joy™, is a vibrant yellow that instantly lifts the mood. Designed to combat the everyday stresses we all face, this bright and energising hue is the perfect antidote for creating an inviting space that’s sure to put a smile on your face each and every day.
Dulux encourages embracing the boldness of True Joy™ through colour drenching—painting walls, ceilings, and even furniture in this sunny shade to infuse your home with vitality. Valspar: Encore
Blue is making a major comeback in interior design this year and Valspar’s Encore is taking centre stage. This serene shade of blue, with a subtle hint of violet, strikes the perfect balance between cool and calming. In bright, well-lit spaces, Encore brings a crisp and refreshing energy to any room of your home, whether it be a home office or bathroom. In softer, dimmer lighting, its violet undertones become more pronounced, adding a cosy feel to a bedroom or living room.

Behr: Rumours
Behr's 2025 Colour of the Year, Rumours, is a stunning deep red that nods to times gone by. This ruby-brown shade brings warmth to any room without being too overpowering. It offers a modern twist on classic red hues, blending effortlessly with the natural, grounded tones that are becoming increasingly popular in modern home design.
Erika Woelfel, Vice President of Colour and Creative Services at Behr Paint Company stated, "Rumours is a modern take on the timeless red that creates an energetic appeal to make a lasting statement in a stunning way.”
Its earthy undertones make it a super versatile colour too, working well with neutrals like soft beiges, greys, and off-whites. Whether you opt for subtle touches of Rumours or go all-in with a contrastive wall colour, this hue is sure to make a statement. It also pairs wonderfully with natural wood accents, gold and silver tones, or even gentle pastels, giving you the flexibility to create a dynamic palette.
Glidden: Purple Basil
Glidden’s 2025 Colour of the Year, Purple Basil, is a bold jewel tone that aligns with the maximalist trend in interior design. As Ashley McCollum, Glidden’s colour expert, notes, “So many people start their colour selection journey looking at bold hues, but ultimately settle for a more expected or muted colour… for 2025, purple isn’t just permitted, it is encouraged.”
Once seen as challenging to incorporate, purple is now more versatile thanks to Purple Basil. This colour can be applied both indoors and outdoors, and McCollum suggests that it will be widely used on front doors, shutters, and even porch ceilings. Inside, it works well in spaces such as offices, bathrooms, and kitchens. However, it’s important to note that Purple Basil can shift between blue and red undertones depending on the lighting and surface texture, so she advises testing the colour first to get a feel for how it will appear in your space.
Little Green: Mochi
Little Greene has unveiled Mochi as its Colour of the Year for 2025—a soft, light brown with peachy-pink undertones. It could be seen as a refreshing alternative for anyone seeking a neutral shade but wanting to move away from the typical beiges and greys.
Ruth Mottershead, Creative Director at Little Greene, has shared her vision behind the new shade, explaining that "rich, warm colours like Mochi create cocooning, restful, and charming environments." She went on to suggest that the intension is for the shade to create a sense of comfort in the home; whether it be in your lounge, bedroom or snug.
Paint and Paper Library: Scarlet ‘n’ Rust
Paint & Paper Library has chosen Scarlet ’n’ Rust as its Colour of the Year (part of the brand’s new Jewels capsule collection) which draws inspiration from rare and semi-precious minerals.
Scarlet ’n’ Rust is a rich, clay-like red that combines the undertones of cardinal red with the depth of brown oxide. Whether you want to soften the look by pairing it with warm neutrals or create a striking contrast with cool tones like deep greens or blues, it’s a shade that offers endless possibilities for creating standout interiors that reflect your mood and personal style.
As Paint & Paper Library notes when describing their Jewels collection, “These shades are designed to reflect both natural beauty and the bold, artistic expressions of contemporary design.”
Benjamin Moore: Cinnamon Slate
Benjamin Moore’s Colour of the Year for 2025 is Cinnamon Slate 2113-40, described as a mix of soft plum and velvety brown.
Andrea Magno, Benjamin Moore’s Director of Colour Marketing and Development, puts it best: “Cinnamon Slate is an inviting hue that delivers enduring style and modern sensibility. Its depth and richness create an air of approachability and comfort, making it an ideal choice for any home.” And honestly, she’s right—this is one of those colours that is bold without being overbearing.
Cinnamon Slate is incredibly versatile for any home interior design. It could be popping as a feature wall in a lounge and paired with soft cream or taupe cushions and throws. Or, why not go the extra mile and paint your kitchen cabinetry to add a touch of character without feeling too heavy? What makes this shade so special is how it plays well with both warm and cool tones, so the possibilities are pretty much endless.
Lick: New Nostalgia collection
Lick has gone beyond just naming a single Colour of the Year for 2025 – instead, they’ve introduced a whole new collection called New Nostalgia. This palette beautifully blends raw tones with rich and luxurious shades. Colours like Brown 02 offer a rustic, cosy feel with subtle red undertones, while Orange 02 is a terracotta hue that’s both lively and earthy at the same time.
Red 01 is a striking burnt umber red, while Purple 03 showcases a Cadbury deep purple with blue undertones that’s destined to bring a touch of luxury to your home. Stripping it back to cooler tones, Blue 04 is a peaceful mid-blue with a hint of grey, making it a great choice for spaces where you want to feel relaxed after a hectic day.
